I'm ever so grateful for your support to this petition. Little is known to the general public about Transplant recipients and Donors as a category of people. Organ donation is understood vaguely. A person can only pledge their organs during their lifetime. However, most of their vital organs are used only when the donor is declared to be brain dead after a rigorously designed legal process.

Transplant recipients are the ones who are suffering from a chronic disease that has reached the last stage, and cannot be cured with treatment. Some donor organs like the heart, lungs, and pancreas have a life of 4 to 5 hours after they have been excavated from the the donor's body. They have to be transplanted within that period. Other organs such as kidneys and liver can survive for 24 hours or so. The challenges of matching the donor organ with the body of the recipient are many when the time available for completing the matching is short. But matching has to be done with all organs to ensure the recipient's body accepts it. Moreover, to ensure that the recipient's body does not perceive the donor organ as a foreign body and rejects it, causing the death of the recipient, doctors give them immunosuppressants. These drugs are expensive and are taken life-long to keep the immunity of the recipient's body low.

To verify, that the drug levels are adequate, frequent blood tests and biopsies need to be conducted. So, not only is the  Transplant operation expensive (Rs. 37 lakhs to 2 c, but so are the medicines, tests, and biopsies.  This makes it hard for the recipients to find funds for these diagnostic procedures. Observing the hardship Transplants and their caretakers have to experience to keep the recipient alive, this petition for financial help from the government has been started. Organ
