Millions of people, across more than 50 countries, rely on medicine provided through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Without this medicine; without this support, 20 million people would lose their life-saving HIV treatment.

For over two decades, PEPFAR has funded the fight to successfully suppress the AIDS epidemic, fuel medical research and expand worldwide cooperation. Now all that could be undone. With President Trump’s Executive Order freezing the dispersal of US aid, 20 million people won’t get the medication they need to survive. The Reevaluation and Realignment of US Foreign Aid Executive Order calls for a halt to nearly all US aid programs for at least 90 days. That is 90 days of untreated HIV. 90 days when doctors who could help, would be committing a crime if they do. 90 days without knowing how much longer their patients have to live.

The lives of 20 million friends, parents, children… 20 million loved-ones are at stake. But they don’t have to be. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio is charged with enforcing this Executive Order. He and his office have the ability to make an exception for PEPFAR and allow life-saving treatments to continue.
