In 2021, partisan politics killed the bill that could have saved Tyre Nichols's life by enacting anti-brutality measures, limiting qualified immunity, and ensuring our police forces are better trained to deescalate potentially volatile situations.

Over the coming weeks, open letters to the President and Vice-Present of the United States, Democratic leaders in both the House and the Senate, in addition to our nation's Congressional Black Caucus and NAACP will be released for you to sign and post on your own social media channels. We need to make sure that justice in policing remains more than a promise made in 2020: we need it to become LAW in 2023, and to take precedent in the upcoming political campaigns of 2024.
