Dear Supporter,
The time has come. We need your help to Save Liverpool Street Station.
The latest plans from Network Rail and its architect, Acme, are now live on the City of London Planning Portal. It is a hugely destructive scheme which, among other things, proposes:
- To demolish about a third of the listed building, including the entirety of the station concourse
- To erect a c20-storey tower block immediately above a new station concourse
- To install a huge amount of new retail within the train sheds – the oldest and most important parts of the station
The campaign needs your objection to these plans as soon as possible. To help, we have created a Guide to Writing an Objection, which is available to read here.
This will allow you to go to the planning portal online to make your objection, and to write a letter that you can email to the chair and members of the planning committee of the City of London. In the Guide we outline some of the many valid reasons for objecting to these plans.
The deadline for objections is the 4 July.
LISSCA is not opposed to the principle of upgrading the station’s facilities, but it strongly opposes Network Rail’s latest scheme, which would cause substantial harm to the historic station and its setting, and to the surrounding Conservation Area.
Upgrading the operational capacity of the station does not need to come at such a heavy cost to London's historic and architectural integrity.
Please donate to the Save Liverpool Street Station Fundraiser
We need your support by donating to our fundraiser to fight these plans!
It is likely that there will be a huge legal battle to stop these plans, in the event that they are given planning permission. There the developers will throw everything they have at us to make sure this goes through. Help us to match their deep pockets and stand up for those who don’t want to see our heritage needlessly destroyed. Every penny you give will make a difference, and Gift Aiding makes your donation bigger without you having to pay more.
Share our posts on social media #SaveLiverpoolStreetStation
Please object and get others to do so too. If you can continue to share our posts on social media that would be brilliant. Please share the link to the fundraiser and the link to how to object to the planning application.
These are the essential things that we can all do to Save Liverpool Street Station.
Thank you from Griff Rhys Jones and the LISSCA Committee for your continued support
