The Issue

My son, along with numerous other children in Richardson, Texas, is greatly benefitting from the Little Disciples Early Learning program at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. This faith-focused educational environment has been a cornerstone not only for our family but for the entire community. It nurtures the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth of our children and removing it would be an irreplaceable loss.

Little Disciples has provided a safe and nurturing space for children to learn, grow, and connect with their faith. The dedicated staff and teachers are passionate about cultivating an enriching curriculum that goes beyond academics, fostering a deep sense of community and faith that is integral to the development of well-rounded individuals.

The impact of the program on our children is profound. It has taught them values of compassion, understanding, and respect, while also bolstering their education through innovative teaching methods. The teachers guide them in a loving and fun atmosphere fostering behaviors that lead them to God and His word. This holistic approach is fundamental in shaping their future as responsible and grounded members of society.

Children have always been important to Jesus expressed in the Bible many times. Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”. The first seven years of a child’s life are argued to be the most important in building foundations of religion. It greatly determines his/her later religious attitudes.

The potential removal of this program from St. Joseph's Catholic Church would not only disrupt the learning and growth of our kids but also dismantle a key support system for many families that rely on this type of early childhood program. It is more than just a school - it is a place where lifelong friendships and community bonds are formed, a place many of us consider a second home. A place we fearlessly drop off our kids everyday entrusting these teachers with our biggest blessings.

We urge the church leadership and decision-makers to consider the long-term effects of closing this essential program. We propose meeting with stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and community leaders, to explore sustainable solutions that will allow Little Disciples to continue its mission.

Please join us in our plea to save Little Disciples Early Learning program from closing. Protect the future of our children and preserve their faith-based early educational opportunities. Sign this petition to make a difference.
