We have five thousand signatures and counting! Concerned communities are realizing what closure of this vital resource could mean to them. OC EMS transport data tells the story. Laguna serves a number of cities in a geographically isolated area but as you can see, year over year, that number is growing as the population in Southern OC grows. 

Something else to consider is how impacted surrounding hospitals already are, some of which cannot support any more traffic. 

In terms of beds, hospitals are designed to have capacity for disasters and other emergencies. Laguna often takes patients when other hospitals cannot. Some days, usage is high. Other days, it is lower but the point is, a hospital and ER is there--both as a regional resource to other hospitals as well as to our coastal communities—24/7. 

An ER at its full capacity means efficiency for Providence but it also means zero capacity to handle any surge of emergencies that the hospitals need to be prepared for. LB is part of the infrastructure that we all depend on, so it’s just as critical as MV.
