This Tuesday's Laguna Beach City Council meeting (6/9) includes the hospital presentation from Providence's CEO. The meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. and the hospital is Item 18. In January, the health care giant signaled that they'll be closing our ER and eliminating acute care services. replacing it with an urgent care and expanded outpatient services. Since 1959, the hospital has been a critical resource for south OC coastal communities.
There's simply no substitute for an ER, In a survey just published, nearly 90% of LB poll respondents said having "a local 24/7 emergency room in Laguna Beach is important." There will be a Q&A session. Attend the meeting in council chambers at 505 Forest Ave. Ask questions or watch on Cox Channel 852.
High acuity urgent care clinics are typically a few thousand square feet. The hospital sits on 22 acres of ocean view land.
