Save Kenny Road's Small Local Businesses From Displacement!
The Issue
For decades, Kenny Road has been home to beloved small, local, family-owned businesses, including Honey Dip Donuts & Diner, Iacono's Pizza, and DeSantis Florist, as well as other longtime tenants such as HealthMarkets Insurance.
These are more than just shops — they are landmarks of Columbus’s history, providing jobs, traditions, and a sense of community for generations. Now, they fear they are at risk of displacement, as these properties might be sold to a new owner with redevelopment plans.
While the future for these properties remains uncertain, this petition was created to show community leaders that these small business tenants along with nearby residential tenants, and the Columbus community at large, strongly oppose redevelopment.
Redevelopment would cause Columbus to lose:
- Generations of family-owned businesses
- Local jobs and neighborhood stability
- Community identity and shared history
As such, in the event of redevelopment proposals, we demand that:
- Adequate notice is provided so no approvals move forward without full community input and public hearings.
- The existing tenants are offered fair, long-term leases.
- The City of Columbus prioritizes protecting local jobs, history, and neighborhood character over outside development interests.
✍️ Please sign and share this petition to let city leaders and developers know: Columbus stands with Kenny Road’s small businesses.
Columbus thrives when small businesses thrive.
UPDATE: We want to thank everyone for the incredible outpouring of support — your voices are being heard!
Thanks to your efforts, we are now in contact with members of Columbus City and kindly ask that folks hold off on emailing council members directly at this time.
Please feel free to keep signing and showing your support. Every signature strengthens our message: Columbus stands with its small businesses.
Thank you 💛
