Hello Everyone
Karen has now been in Conquest hospital for 1 year and 7 months. Karen is continuing to have TPN (IV feeding) and IV fluid in hospital.
Thank you so much to everyone for your support since our last 2 updates.
Karen’s gastroenterology consultant came to see Karen briefly on Thursday the 17th of July. Following his visit to Karen in the evening on Tuesday the 15th, Karen asked him a bit more about the TEAMS meeting he attending on Thursday the 10th of July. He said that at the meeting Vikki Carruth, Chief of Nursing, said that East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) might take Karen’s case to Court and that they are considering trying to evict Karen from hospital. This would be without TPN and IV fluid which would mean Karen would die of dehydration and malnutrition. Karen does not want to die and Heather and Michael do not want to lose their beautiful and precious daughter.
It would be cruel and unethical if ESHT try to evict Karen from hospital. There are serious problems and risks for Karen of the travelling and being in St Marks because of the very severe ME. Karen should not be given a death sentence because of ESHT and St Marks disregarding the serious problems and risks that Karen has because of the very severe ME.
ESHT and St Marks are causing Karen a lot of extra suffering. Karen is very stressed and exhausted. Karen is finding it hard to sleep and is being caused overexertion by the situation. All of this is obviously very bad for her and the very severe ME. It is even worse that the Trust are doing what they are doing now, because Karen has a difficult PICC line change that needs doing asap, a urinary catheter change in August and needs her PEG-J tube replaced under GA.
ESHT should be working with Karen, not against her.
Thank you to those of you who are writing to ESHT about how you feel about how the Trust are treating Karen.
Thank you so much to everyone who has signed and shared the petition. Also, thank you very much to everyone who has chipped in to promote the petition. It is very generous of you and it makes a big difference. Thank you for your supportive comments. It is all much appreciated by us.

Best wishes to you all
Karen, Heather & Michael
