Hello Everyone

Karen has now been in Conquest hospital for more than 1 year and 6 months. Karen is continuing to have TPN (IV feeding) and IV fluid in hospital.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) are not even letting Karen recover from her recent particularly bad health before proceeding to prepare for legal action.

ESHT are still insisting that Karen should go to St Marks Intestinal Rehabilitation Unit, 100 miles away, for assessment for possible setting up of home PN. Karen still has major concerns about going to and being in St Marks. She has been asking for remote setting up of home PN while she is in Conquest hospital.

ESHT have still not answered important questions that Karen first asked them in April.

Karen’s gastroenterology consultant came to see Karen on Tuesday evening the 15th of July. He said he attended a TEAMS meeting last week. The meeting was with Vikki Carruth, Chief of Nursing and Sue Allen a Senior Head of Nursing. He said that ESHT were preparing to get legal advice and that they were getting information together for this. He said to Karen it’s leading to Court. He said he was told to tell Karen. He said that they were saying about him doing another formal mental capacity assessment on Karen. He said that Court proceedings would be a painful road. Karen was extremely upset when he left. Obviously, we are all extremely worried and stressed.

Karen is still more unwell and is still trying to recover from being so unwell, so it is particularly bad what the Trust are doing. Karen also has a difficult PICC line change that needs doing asap, a urinary catheter change in August and needs her PEG-J tube replaced under GA.
