Thank you to everyone who responded to our request to learn more about the fate of the State Historical Society of Iowa's documentary collections. Nearly19,000 people have viewed the petition, which garnered over 800 signatures as of July 1. 

We need to continue to request transparency in the decision-making process even if the DAS Director says it is not required. The involvement of informed stakeholders who care about these prized collections may help protect the valuable assets our ancestors assembled for future generations.

Can you please send an email to a friend or family member, write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, talk to your neighbors, or help inform elected officials about the issues? Ask them to read the petition and share what you know if they have questions.
