Anglo American have paused work on Woodsmith Mine until 2027, with around 1,000 workers reported to have lost their jobs.

As part of its merger with Teck, Anglo have promised billions of investment in Canada and even committed to moving their leadership team there. Instead, they should focus on fixing Woodsmith and getting workers back on site. They’ve offered no plan for Woodsmith past 2027, happy to let the prosperity of local communities hang in uncertainty.

We are calling for a public pledge from Anglo CEO, Duncan Wanblad, to keep the Woodsmith mine open.
