Hi Everyone,

Well, we presented our Petition to North Herts District Council 2 weeks ago and have just received a response to say they will not accept the Petition! I quote their response:  “Because the sites named in the petition are all part of the Local Plan unfortunately our rules mean we can’t formally accept the petition”. So, how on earth do people voice their views and serious concerns regarding the destruction of local Green Belt when the Local Plan is almost entirely focused on removing Green Belt land? How democratic!

However there is a Hitchin Committee Meeting on Tuesday 30th November, which will discuss our Petition and have allowed us just 5 mins to speak. However, the public can also put questions to the Councillors at the beginning of the Meeting from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. So if you would like to share your views with Council please come along!

Also, to let you know what else is happening. We have written and sent the Petition to local and national press, BBC Look East and Government Inspector, plus we will be sending to the Department of Environmental. After all, we are told by the Prime Minister their policy is NOT to build on Green Belt land!
