On May 16, Deacon Robert "Bob" Thomson passed away, after having served as Holy Rosary's beloved Deacon for more than 50 years. According to a church flyer, he "exemplified the true virtues of compassion, leadership, and unwavering faith. He was a source of comfort and guidance for countless individuals and families, and his contributions to the church and its activities cannot be overstated."
In an interview, Deacon Bob once said, "Worthy, how could I ever be worthy. Look at all those wonderful people out there, haven't seen some of them in 25 years and they're as friendly as if I saw them yesterday. If someone had ever told me that I, Bobby Thomson of 262 Undercliff Avenue, would be on the altar, vested, reading the gospel at Holy Rosary on Christmas Eve... Why, some people must be surprised to even see me in church! You're such a mystery, Lord."
On May 26 2026 Reverend Father Jose Amante M. Abalon celebrated the 25th anniversary of his Ordination. Father Jose was joined by many well wishers in the church hall enjoying live music and delicious potluck entrees contributed by the attendees, including a suckling pig, and celebration cake. A good time was had by all.
Note: This Sunday, On May 31 at the upcoming 11:00 am Mass, Bishop Michael Saporito will be attending the 11:00am mass at Holy Rosary to preside over the Sacrament of Confirmation.
