Hello all - As we await Hurricane Fiona in Nova Scotia, I'm pleased that Dalhousie has finally done something about the broken out windows on the upper floor of the house, after being asked many times about this. Today Volcano Construction (who I've taken to thinking of as Volcano Destruction!) returned to nail up a sheet of pressed wood over the two windows that they previously smashed out. Of course, the University must be thinking of their liability should the roof have blown off the house in this storm, which may hit us as a Category 1, 2 or 3 hurricane. But regardless of the reason, they have done the right thing, and at least there is something on the windows now. They also removed (to where I don't know) the historic fireplace pieces that were lying in the rain out back for many weeks. The light fixture is still there, still screwed to a removed beam.

Today's opening of the house afforded a couple more photos from the sidewalk of what remains of the house. While it is upsetting and depressing to see, it's better to know than not know, I suppose.

Still time to email the Councillors and Mayor ahead of Tuesday's meeting (assuming it goes ahead virtually at least, after the hurricane).

Stay well and safe - see you on the other side.
