The Issue

Recently, students who requested the class Hip-Hop Literature at  Montgomery Blair High School have been placed in Human Geography or other history electives. This is due to MBHS no longer offering the class anymore after the 2025-2026 School year. Blair claims to have a safe and welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds. However,  by nullifying a class focusing on black culture, pop culture, and politics through Hip-Hop, this mission statement is not upheld. Blazers and community members outside of Blair, we must save Hip-Hop Literature. Sign this petition to support creative ways to learn about community and culture within the Hip-Hop curriculum, and bring it back for future years.
