1 Feb 2019
2nd February is World Wetlands Day! Let's celebrate wetlands today. Let's use them wisely. Without wetlands we have no chance of sustaining life as we know it.
Hundreds of Icelandic whooper swans winter on Lough Beg's Creagh Meadows. They are considered to be a discrete population in their own right, a dynasty. Assessed by RSPB and Birdwatch Ireland to be a species of Conservation Concern.
The priceless heritage of these migratory swans is shared beyond national frontiers: nature knows no borders!
