Save HCU Forest: Stop the Destruction of 400 Acres of Green Life
Save HCU Forest: Stop the Destruction of 400 Acres of Green Life
The Issue
To the Honorable Government of Telangana, UGC, and Environmental Authorities,
We, the concerned students, citizens, and nature lovers, strongly oppose the ongoing destruction of the 400-acre forest inside the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) campus.
This forest is not an empty piece of land. It is home to over 160 species of birds, deer, wild boars, peacocks, turtles, and countless insects. This green space acts as the lungs of Hyderabad, a natural classroom for students, and a rare ecosystem in the heart of a growing city.
Heavy machinery and construction equipment are already threatening this delicate balance. Trees are being felled, paths are being cleared, and silence is replacing birdsong. All of this is happening without proper environmental clearance, transparency, or public consultation.
We demand:
1. An immediate halt to all deforestation and construction activity inside HCU forest land.
2. A transparent Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and public disclosure of project plans.
3. Protection of the HCU forest under eco-sensitive or protected status.
4. Student, faculty, and environmental expert involvement in all future decisions.
The Earth does not need more buildings. It needs breathing space.
Saving this forest is not just an environmental cause — it is a fight for justice, biodiversity, and a livable future.
Sign this petition and help us be the voice for the voiceless.
