أنقذوا حنكوراب!
 أوقفوا تدمير تراثنا الطبيعي!

رأس حنكوراب، أحد أكثر المواقع الطبيعية غنية بالتنوع البيولوجي والشعب المرجانية  على ساحل البحر الأحمر المصري، يواجه تهديدًا خطيرًا. فهناك خطط لإنشاء فندق خاص داخل محمية وادي الجمال الوطنية، مما يعرض النظام البيئي الهش للخطر، بالإضافة إلى حرمان المصريين من حقهم في الوصول إلى تراثهم الطبيعي. يسكن الموقع حيوان الدوجونج وأعشاب البحر والشعاب المرجانية المتنوعة والأسماك والدلافين وموائل البحار المفتوحة في أعماق البحار، وبالتالي يجب الحفاظ على الموقع مع تنظيم الأنشطة السياحية.

إن خصخصة أي جزء من محمية وادي الجمال أو أي محمية تعني تقييد وصول المواطنين إلى مساحة يجب أن تظل مفتوحة للجميع، وليس فقط لمن يستطيعون تحمل تكلفة المنتجعات الفاخرة. وهذا ينتهك المبدأ الأساسي للمناطق المحمية، الذي يقوم على الحفاظ على الطبيعة للأجيال القادمة، وضمان حق المجتمعات المحلية والمواطنين في الاستمتاع بجمال بلدهم الطبيعي دون عوائق مالية.

باعتبارها منطقة محمية، فإن رأس حنكوراب هي أرض عامة، ومورد طبيعي مملوكة للشعب المصري وليست للمستثمرين الخاصين. شواطئها وتنوعها البحري الفريد، أهميتها كموقع تعشيش السلاحف البحرية المهددة بالانقراض، كلها كنوز لا تقدر بثمن يجب الحفاظ عليها، لا بيعها لتحقيق الأرباح.

نحن الموقعون أدناه، نطالب بـ:

1. الوقف الفوري لجميع المشروعات الاستثمارية الجارية التي تتعدى على القوانين والمعايير البيئية في وادي الجمال ورأس حنكوراب.
2. تجديد التزام الحكومة المصرية بصون محمية وادي الجمال ومنع المستثمرين او أي جهات أخرى من إقامة أي نشاط أو تخصيص أراضي محمية دون إتمام الإجراءات القانونية والحصول على الموافقات اللازمة من جهاز شئون البيئة.
3. ضمان حق المواطنين المصريين في الوصول الحر إلى تراثهم الطبيعي، ومنع تحويل الشواطئ العامة أو المناطق المحمية إلى منتجعات خاصة.

السماح بإنشاء هذا الفندق لا يهدد فقط التنوع البيولوجي الفريد للبحر الأحمر، بل يضر أيضًا بمصداقية مصر في الدفاع عن قضايا حماية البيئة على المستوى العالمي. ندعو وزارة البيئة، وجهاز شئون البيئة، ووزارة السياحة إلى اتخاذ إجراءات حاسمة لوقف هذا المشروع، والحفاظ على رأس حنكوراب من أجل الشعب، وليس لتحقيق مكاسب خاصة.

Save Hankorab!
Stop the Destruction of Our Natural Heritage!

Ras Hankorab, one of the most pristine and ecologically rich sites on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, is under immediate threat. Plans to construct a private hotel within Wadi El-Gemal National Park endangering not only the fragile ecosystem but also the rights of Egyptians to access their own natural heritage.

As a protected area, Ras Hankorab is public land. It belongs to the Egyptian people, not to private investors. Its breathtaking beaches, unique marine biodiversity, and significance as a nesting ground for endangered sea turtles are invaluable treasures that must be preserved—not sold off for profit. The site is inhabited by dugong, sea grass bed, diverse coral reefs and fishes, dolphins, open sea deep sea habitats, hence the site should be preserved with limited touristic activities

Privatizing any part of Wadi El-Gemal (or any National Park) means restricting public access to a space that should remain open for all, not just those who can afford luxury resorts. This violates the very principle of protected areas: conserving nature for future generations while ensuring the right of local communities and citizens to enjoy their country’s natural beauty without financial barriers.

We, the undersigned, demand that:

1. Immediate halt of any and all investment projects happening at Wadi El-Gemal and Ras Hankorab which violates its environmental rights and regulations.
2. The Egyptian government reaffirms its commitment to protecting Wadi El-Gemal National Park and preventing private investors from any activity which encroaches on public lands without the necessary permissions from the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency.
3. Egyptian citizens’ right to freely access their natural heritage be upheld, ensuring that no public beaches or protected areas are turned into private resorts.

Allowing this hotel to proceed not only threatens the Red Sea’s unique biodiversity but also undermines Egypt’s credibility in advocating for environmental protection on the global stage. We call on the Ministry of Environment, the General Authority for Protected Areas, and the Ministry of Tourism to take decisive action to stop this project and preserve Ras Hankorab for the people—not for private profits.
