Our thanks to Jennifer Thurston of Information Network for Responsible Mining (INFORM) for the following.  Zephyr Minerals has announced they will remove one section of the proposed mine from their final plans. They will no longer include the Green Mountain section for mine development, which is the westernmost part of the mine area west of the Lower Grape Creek WSA. In the long run, the exclusion of Green Mountain reduces the economic viability of the mine, but in the short run it increases the pressure on the remaining sections of the mine to the east, which lie closest to Dawson Ranch residents, Cañon City and Temple Canyon Park. Zephyr says it will submit a new permit application to the State of Colorado in the near future.
