The government has said food security is as important as energy security but has not yet implemented new legislation to protect our very best grade 1 land from alternative developments such as solar plants. In a volatile world we need to ensure we can grow our own food. This petition is to get the government to immediately implement legislation to protect our very best farmland. No farmland no food. Less than 6% of the country is grade 1 land and still local planning teams keep passing proposals to develop it for other uses. We are all impacted by the loss of such valuable land and need to act before we loose what remains.
