SAVE GRACE CHURCH of PLAINFIELD, NJ

SAVE GRACE CHURCH of PLAINFIELD, NJ
The Issue
The Plainfield community built Grace Episcopal Church with its donations and has maintained it with its donations. The Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey is attempting to sell the church for $5 million to a developer who will dismantle it in order to build apartments that are close to the train station.
The church, an historical landmark with architectural and cultural importance, is treasured by the community.
We request that the Diocese return the Tiffany windows that were sold in December of 2020 and commit to preserving the building by working with Partners for Sacred Places. Partners for Sacred Places changes the way congregations view their role so that their sacred place remains a rich and vital part of the social fabric of a community. Partners will facilitate the complicated transition of Grace Church to better serve our community, shaping a vibrant, creative Plainfield.
