7 HYDRO SCHEMES APPROVED IN GLEN ETIVE.
Yes, you read that correctly. Dickins Hydro Resources have successfully applied for 7 hydro schemes to go ahead in Glen Etive, in an astonishing display of disregard shown by #HighlandCouncil for the over 650 objections submitted against the project.
These schemes will benefit the privately owned company Dickins Hydro, with the potential to make £1 million a year PROFIT from the seven schemes. The company have offered to pay the community a measly £34,000.
What is doubly gut-wrenching is the obvious role of the estates involved- Dalness, and Glen Etive- who could receive £3 million between them. Once again we are allowing small numbers of people to make decisions about areas of land we love, land that the public should own.
This is a bigger argument than just some development in a glen. This is a perfect example of how our lands are torn apart and managed for the good of the few to the detriment of the many- you, me and everyone who values Scottish landscapes for their intrinsic value.
Spread this- kick up a fuss. This cannot be allowed to go forward without a fight.
