In late 2023, Cartoon Base reported that Owen Dennis (Infinity Train, Regular Show) and Toby Jones (OK K.O.!: Let’s Be Heroes, Regular Show) had been pitching an adult animated series based on 90's video game mascot Gex.

"Square was into it when we pitched it but somewhere along the line, when lawyers started talking to each other, intransience set in and Square told us that the idea is dead. Sucks. Really wanted to make that and we tried really hard."

Can Gex ever truly be cancelled, though?

Earlier in 2023, it was announced that the original trilogy of games was being remastered and made available on modern platforms. Soon, a new generation of Gex Fiends will be born and ask the important question: why has this TV-obsessed lizard never had a TV show of his own?
