The Director of Silver Voices, Dennis Reed and Chief Executive of the Digital Poverty Alliance, Elizabeth Anderson, handed in the Save Freeview petition to 10 Downing Street yesterday, supported by a cross-party group of MPs and peers and the Broadcast 2040+ Coalition.

We warned the Prime Minister that more than 17 million people watch Freeview each week and to remove their choice of watching TV via an aerial, rather than expensive broadband, would be extremely unpopular and would have major political consequences. A decision on whether to scrap Freeview will be taken in the near future and so we hope the delivery of your mass petition at this time will influence the Government's thinking.

If you want regular updates on the Freeview campaign and all other Silver Voices campaigns you can receive our weekly newsletters by subscribing to Silver Voices on the link below. Our other priority campaigns include energy and food prices support, protecting the state pension and pensioner benefits, raising the lower tax threshold, resolving the social care crisis, older people's access to healthcare, digital exclusion and retention of traditional landlines.
