Hello Friends of ESNP!
*** BEFORE THE VOTE THIS WED 5/6 ***
It is time yet again to email/call/text your County Commissioner and politely ask that they fulfill their side of the agreement with the City to jointly purchase the landlocked (by the park) 19 acre parcel being sold by the Boy Scouts, and rezone it for greenspace. The Boy Scouts must sell the property IMMEDIATELY as part of a lawsuit settlement, and the parcel is surrounded by ESNP land, which the County and City already jointly own.
This is a worthy INVESTMENT in our county’s public green spaces, especially in an area that Hamilton County taxpayers have already overwhelmingly and loudly shown they want conserved. And the City of Chattanooga has already agreed to pay half.
Protect the gateway to Enterprise South Nature Park. Protect the park.

IN THE NEWS
Times Free Press: Hamilton County officials express concern about land purchase near Enterprise South Nature Park
"Commissioner Mike Chauncey, R-East Ridge, said during the April 15 meeting that he didn't see the point of spending county money on the purchase if there wouldn't be a future return on investment in the form of development on the land."
Our response: Investment in conservation, parks, and green spaces demonstrate return on that investment every day. They filter pollutants, they provide and connect vital wildlife habitat, they give each of us a place to rest, restore, and recreate. It is an investment in quality of life for our community.
