Why Thursday? From the Washington Appellate Project's (WAP) press release today, a status hearing was held last Friday. In that hearing, the Office of Public Defense (OPD) agreed to mediation over the contract. Mediation is scheduled for this Friday, August 28.  Reaching 500 signatures before mediation would help show OPD that there is strong public support for a contract that allows WAP to continue serving its current and future clients ethically and effectively.
