300 signatures and counting! Updates on WAP's lawsuit against OPD and what comes next

Every signature helps demonstrate to OPD just how many people care about protecting ethical and effective appellate public defense here in Washington State, and recognizes Washington Appellate Projects huge role in producing real systemic change. Today, with your help, we’ve reached 300 signatures!

Our work is not over yet. As you may be aware, WAP has filed a lawsuit against OPD. While WAP’s request for preliminary injunction was recently denied, the judge indicated an inclination to order the parties to mediation, which could provide another opportunity to work toward a resolution. We must continue urging OPD to return to the table and negotiate with WAP to reach a contract that meets their ethical obligations to their current and future clients.

Please keep sharing the petition with your friends, colleagues, community members, and anyone who believes in WAP’s cause. The message to OPD from the community must be loud and clear: return to good-faith negotiations with WAP and work toward an ethical contract.
