Good news, we just flew past 3000 signatures, and the mini-documentary I just released about the lake has already flown past 4000 views. Keep sharing this petition and the new video, we're making great progress!
I try to keep you all updated whenever there is a city meeting or place to speak your voice about the issue at the lake - tomorrow is another chance to do just that:
Tomorrow at 10AM, we have a chance to call in to the City Council meeting and have our voices heard. You can speak on item number 20-1475, ( this is the motion to use the LA Convention Center for temporary housing ) or general public comment.
A few things you could mention:
We want clean, safe parks and public spaces. We support Mitch O’Farrell's efforts to provide housing for the unhoused at the lake and restoring the lake to its intended purpose. We support and appreciate “care +” outreach services and sanitation teams, and we want this work to continue! ( they work to keep our sidewalks, tents and encampments clean) We want access to our right of ways restored. We support compassionate efforts to get people rehoused.
Speak from the heart and on what affects you personally. This is one of the ways to hold our City Officials accountable publicly. Below find the phone number to call in and the instructions to speak. Make sure to press *9 as soon as you are "in" the meeting or on hold waiting for the meeting to start. This holds your place in line. You can even call in early to get in line and make sure your comment is heard! They will announce public comment and at that time you can start to listen for your number to be called. They will state the last four of your phone number when it is your turn.
Members of the public who wish to offer public comment to the Council should call 1 669 254 5252 and use Meeting ID No. 160 535 8466 and then press #. Press # again when prompted for participant ID. Once admitted into the meeting, press *9 to request to speak.
