Dear Supporters
I hope you are well,
Here is an important message from UNISON and update on actions leading up to the Council Cabinet Meeting Tuesday 16th July to decide whether to go ahead with the Draft Library Strategy 2019-2023.
“The Campaign to Save the Seven local libraries under threat of either being closed or handed over to voluntary organisations will reach its conclusion at the Council Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 16th July. Whatever the decision it is likely that many library workers in Ealing who have given years of service to their local communities will lose their jobs.
We believe that Ealing Council has not proved willing to look at alternative ways of funding the service unlike the neighbouring boroughs of Hounslow and Hillingdon. This short term and short-sighted decision will have a damaging impact on the most vulnerable members of our local communities and on the future of our children who need access to books and a safe space to learn and study.
in the final weeks of the campaign I would urge you all to make one last effort to make the Council reconsider before it is too late.
