EBR Schools leadership removed principal Mrs. Ariane St.Julien! However, they also promoted the controversial assistant principal Ms. Turner to interim principal. It is IS possible Ms. Turner has not been her best self while under the leadership of her close friend. We shall see if she demonstrates a sense of empathy and compassion which she has been severely lacking the last several years. Most the rest of the leadership both at the school and in central office remain the same, so far.
In an odd move the former principal's daughter Ms. Kellye Robvais Washington was brought in to serve as assistant principal? The community received a note this mid-October change was about "Montessori," so what does this means for the traditional program? What does this mean for students with disabilities?
At present it appears the Dufrocq School remains a school lead by selfish individuals with no compassion who will do anything for professional gain and put kids last. Some may feel they were rewarded for two years of bad behavior. However, we will update and acknowledge IF there are major changes in behavior that lead to massive positive shifts in culture. We remain cautious. The Dufrocq community is worthy of bold, authentic, growth oriented, visionary leadership, we will not settle. Many are skeptical, but hope at the November 28th community meeting to see some humility and evidence of true change and a push towards unity. WE are not afraid to DO THE WORK!
**A new PTO was launched and we will be watching how this develops over time before declaring it a success here. As lack of authentic community engagement was a leading criticism we do want to acknowledge the move here. Please update any concerns in the comment section.
