I am writing as a resident of the greater Cairns region, to respectfully request that you sponsor the proposed Petition for submission to the

Queensland Parliament.

The petition urges the government to reverse the recent decision to convert Double Island from a reserve under the Land Act to state-owned freehold, and instead restore its protected reserve status to preserve environmental integrity and public access.

I believe this issue is of vital importance to the Cairns community and Far North Queensland more broadly.

I would be very grateful if you would sponsor the state ePetition and help us ensure a transparent and environmentally responsible future for Double Island.
