DasherDrivers know the base delivery fee is only $2 (sometimes higher, depending on the location), but with people rarely tipping more than $2 for long distances, it's gotten quite frustrating trying to make the driving worth it. A lot of customers can get away with ordering food nearly 10 miles away from them and only have to pay the base $2, rarely with an even half-decent tip as a thank you. It's very discouraging sometimes. Especially when Dashers get punished (in a way) for turning down low paying orders that they do not want to accept. We turn them down because we know the pay is too low for the distance driven.

The DoorDash CEO should follow through on his "helping the underdogs" and raise the base pay to $5 minimum to help us cover the average cost of a gallon of gas! It would be HIGHLY appreciated by those of us willing to put in the time and effort to deliver the orders, For those who say "get a real job", this IS a real job, just like any other delivery services! We deserve to be paid fairly by the company, just like any other worker! If we want fair pay for the willingness to bring people's orders to them, we must speak up, just like any other social change.
