Save Dexter: Original Sin

The issue

The sudden cancellation of Dexter: Original Sin has left many fans, actors, and the creative team deeply disappointed. Watch how the Dexter community is reacting to Showtime and Paramount+ pulling the plug.

Fans connected with young Dexter (Patrick Gibson), Harry (Christian Slater), Debra (Molly Brown), María LaGuerta (Christina Milian), Vince Mauka (Alex Shimizu), Angel Batista (James Martinez), Bobby Watt (Reno Wilson), Captain Spencer (Patrick Dempsey), and Tanya Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar) - all incredibly talented actors who brought depth and emotion to their roles.

On the production side, showrunner Clyde Phillips and producers Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Monica Raymund, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns worked tirelessly to craft compelling stories, while directors like Michael Lehmann and Monica Raymund explored fresh new ways of expanding the Dexter universe. This wasn’t just a show, it was a passionate, heartfelt collaboration between creators and performers who gave fans something fresh, meaningful, and memorable.

Ending the show now means abandoning the stories and character journeys that fans were eagerly waiting for. It also directly impacts the careers of the cast and crew who dedicated themselves to making Original Sin a standout part of the Dexter franchise.

While Dexter: Resurrection is currently thriving, with Michael C. Hall back as Dexter and pulling in record-breaking viewership and critical acclaim, that doesn’t mean Original Sin should be discarded or forgotten. Showtime and Paramount+ already renewed it for a second season in April 2025 after a RECORD BREAKING premiere, and fans deserve to see those promises fulfilled.

Both series serve important but different purposes. Original Sin explores how Dexter’s morals, code, and world first came to be, while Resurrection examines his legacy. Together, they enrich the Dexter story in unique and complementary ways. Clyde Phillips said: "It will become the biggest Easter egg in the world. We need to see him grow in several ways." He added: "So, next season, does he get his boat? Does he get his apartment? Does he start wearing the Henley? Does he start doing the red string thing? Those are things that we’re going to explore. It’ll be like coming home for the audience".

Supporting both shows would honor the hard work of the actors, writers, and crew while giving fans the layered, multi-perspective storytelling they’ve come to love within the franchise.

Now is the moment for us to act.

Showtime and Paramount+ are still shaping the future of the Dexter franchise, and by raising our voices we can show that fans want both stories to continue and that ALL creative teams led by Clyde Phillips, Michael C. Hall, Monica Raymund, Marcos Siega, and Scott Reynolds still have more incredible stories to tell.

We are asking Showtime and Paramount+: let Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: Resurrection thrive side by side. Both casts, both stories, and both creative teams deserve their moment and fans are ready to support them every step of the way.
