A once thriving lake in Gurgaon district is now on the verge of drying out completely. Damdama Lake was once a massive tourist attraction of Haryana where hundreds of people used to visit for boating and recreation.

The lake is down to last few square feet of water. The desertification and loss of ground water is affecting entire South Haryana.  Gurgaon district faces floods every rainy season , but the run off water is wasted and water bodies are not being recharged. After Badkal and Surajkund lake, now Damdama is drying and dying. This harsh 48 degree summer should wake  citizens up to the threat of climate change, the effect of cutting lakhs of trees and drying up water bodies is going to put Gurgaon in danger.

Let's urge the Haryana government to desilt the lake, remove embankments to allow water to recharge this once thriving water body. Use all the expert help to Save Damdama lake. Our future depends on it.

गुड़गांव जिले की फलती-फूलती झील अब पूरी तरह सूखने की कगार पर है। दमदमा झील कभी हरियाणा का एक बड़ा पर्यटक आकर्षण हुआ करती थी, जहाँ सैकड़ों लोग नौकायन और मनोरंजन के लिए आते थे।

झील में अब सिर्फ़ कुछ वर्ग फीट पानी बचा है। रेगिस्तानीकरण और भूजल में कमी से पूरा दक्षिण हरियाणा प्रभावित हो रहा है। गुड़गांव जिले में हर बरसात में बाढ़ आती है, लेकिन बहता पानी बर्बाद हो जाता है और जल निकायों को रिचार्ज नहीं किया जा रहा है। बड़कल और सूरजकुंड झील के बाद अब दमदमा झील सूख रही है। 48 डिग्री की इस भीषण गर्मी में नागरिकों को जलवायु परिवर्तन के खतरे के प्रति सचेत हो जाना चाहिए, लाखों पेड़ों को काटने और जल निकायों के सूखने का असर गुड़गांव को खतरे में डालने वाला है।

हरियाणा सरकार को दमदमा झील से गाद निकालने, तटबंधों को हटाने का आग्रह करें ताकि फलती-फूलती इस जल निकाय को रिचार्ज करने के लिए पानी मिल सके। दमदमा झील को बचाने के लिए सभी विशेषज्ञों की मदद लें। हमारा भविष्य इसी पर निर्भर करता है।
