Happy New Year!
Let's hope 2019 rings in the New Year with the return of Crema Cafe -- the ding of the oven as the madeleines are being done, the sound of a whirring hand-mixer as the strawberry frosting is being whipped up for the Chocolate Basil Strawberry cupcakes.
Crema was ranked #2 place for pastries in Harvard Square, according to Foursquare (#1 was Tatte -- We won't split hairs--both are amazing). They needed to update their webpage on Dec. 30 to remove Crema from the list. (sniffle sniffle!)
We must have Crema returned!

"Crema is a special place dear to many students, faculty and staff at Harvard as well as other locals. I would hate to see a wonderful local establishment, with great food and great service, be replaced with a chain. If a place like Crema cannot stay in the Square, I don't see how there is hope for any local business." -Melina Malley, Somerville, MA
"As a student, the beating heart of Harvard Square was the tastes of the small, independently owned shops, restaurants, and cafes. Crema is not just an outstanding cafe, in itself an essential institution for swapping ideas in the orbit of a University, but an essential lifeblood of choice where Starbucks have come to pack in more densely than a NYC block. After the prior fate of Cafe Algiers, there is precedent for concern." -Christopher Magliozzi, Burlington, MA
"We need to keep businesses in the Sq that have been long-term valued business and stop so many being forced out in order for owners to hugely profit from new tenants or even leave the property empty. " -Nella LaRosa Waters, Cambridge, MA
"I love this place. It's an independent local company and a true treasure in the square. Keep Crema Cafe where it is. " -Nicola Williams, Cambridge, MA
