Save Cooper – Stop the Unfair Euthanasia of a Gentle Dog

The Issue

Update:
Cooper has now been confined at Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care & Services for 11 days.
He’s in a small cage—scared, confused, and missing his family.

We were only informed on April 17 that a hearing will be held on April 25 via Zoom—16 days after he was taken.

💔 Please keep Cooper in your thoughts.
🙏 Pray for him.

🐾 Help us bring Cooper home.

Cooper, a sweet and well-trained Rottweiler, is facing euthanasia after an accidental incident during a walk in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He does not deserve to die for a misunderstanding.

On the morning of April 7, 2025, Cooper was out on a leash with his owner when he was suddenly startled by a nearby person and accidentally knocked the woman over. His owner, who was wearing headphones, immediately pulled him back and secured him to a pole. The woman had some visible marks on her arm, but Cooper did not bite her, nor did he show any signs of aggression. It was a moment of confusion—not an attack.

Cooper has never been aggressive. He’s completed both puppy and intermediate training and is known in the neighborhood as a calm, friendly, and well-socialized dog. Several neighbors have written character references confirming Cooper’s excellent behavior and the responsible way his owners care for him.

We believe it is deeply unfair to euthanize Cooper for what was clearly an accident. His owners have taken full responsibility and are working with their insurance and Animal Control. They are willing to follow any safety measures needed.

We ask the City of Rancho Cucamonga and Animal Control to reconsider Cooper’s case and give him a chance to return to the loving home he deserves.

Please sign and share this petition to help stop the unnecessary euthanasia of an innocent dog.
