Converse University has decided to remove Converse Esports as a scholarship sport at the conclusion of the 2025-26 Academic year.

Converse Esports has been a major athletic team for Converse University over the last 4 years. Since its inception, Converse Esports has won 14 Conference Championships alongside 2 top 3 placements, 3 National Championships, with 6 additional tournament wins. However, with the long-term success, the program did not place emphasis on long-term sustainability. As a result, the University decided to cut funding. Converse Esports has upheld the core values of Converse University while seeing national success. Converse Esports has avenues for long-term sustainability that are actively being worked towards. A major part of bringing sustainability to Converse Esports is moving the practice facilities onto campus. Through active community engagement, sponsorship opportunities, partnership opportunities, fundraising, events, and recruitment, Converse Esports will not only reach a point of sustainability but also growth for Spartanburg. This is a student-led initiative to continue representing Converse through national competitions and academics.
