Save Coach Sam

The Issue

Coach Sam deserves better

Coach Sam isn’t just one of the best tennis coaches I’ve ever had — he’s also one of the funniest, kindest, and most genuine people I’ve met. He’s good-hearted, passionate, and deeply dedicated. Honestly, without him, I probably wouldn’t even be playing tennis today. But because of him, I am — and he deserves so much more.

He’s built something special at the Royal Lake Club, where he coaches over 100 students, helping shape not just athletes but a tight-knit, passionate community. Through his leadership, friendships have been formed, skills sharpened, and countless memories made on and off the court. We are forever grateful to the RLC for this, without them none of this would've happened or been possible. In fact one of my favourite memories with him was that after we finished a tennis session together with a good friend of mine Sean, all 3 of us went to the poolside where there are nice stalls and we all ate together and laughed about football. It isn't just about the tennis with him, its about the connection he builds.

But now, all of that is under threat.

The RLC has decided to launch a tennis academy — which means terminating all external coaches, including Coach Sam. As of June 19th, 2025, he’s still employed. But come July, he’s out. Whilst this academy is a great idea to hone our skills and build a team, it may come at a great cost.

We don’t know exactly how much this will impact him financially, but let’s be real: losing 100 students overnight is massive. And it’s not just about income — it’s about losing a community he built from the ground up. The impact will ripple far beyond just him — it’ll affect every coach, every student, every family connected to this team. We cannot let this happen quietly.

If you’ve trained with Coach Sam…

If you’ve ever smiled because of something he said…

If he’s helped you improve even a little —

Even if you've never met him but you know that someone like him does not deserve this -

Now’s the time to give back to not just him but the amazing community at RLC!

We want to get him the ability to keep his job and his community and you guys are the only ones who can do this!

It costs nothing to sign a petition, but your support could mean everything.

Let’s stand up for someone who’s always stood for us.

Let’s protect not just a job — but a legacy.
