Save Chamberlain Park Inc would like to offer its condolences to the family of Jock McLean who sadly passed away the 6th of August. Jock, who was vice president at Royal Auckland, was a supporter of our campaign to ‘Stop the Chop at Chamberlain Park’. He told of memories when he was a boy of catching two buses to play at Chamberlain Park when the old Remuera Public Course was under water. He also said he had played a "handicap pennants match at Chamberlain last year and was pleasantly surprised at how good the course was given the amount of land they have lost over the years". Jock described the plans to chop up Chamberlain Park as “…a short sighted plan by the Local Board.” Rest in peace Jock.
