Save Camp Davis 2024!

Save Camp Davis 2024!
The Issue
Camp Daniel L. Davis has touched the hearts of many people, and has aided in the development of young minds from 30+ years ago all the way up to 2023. The news that Camp Danny Davis is canceled this year has devastated hundreds of families whose children look forward to attending camp every summer to meet up with friends and to revisit or to even begin their walk with Christ. This spiritual camp has not only resonated in the hearts of the campers but the counselors and directors as well who return each year to create more memories and lifelong relationships.
The unique connections formed at Camp Danny Davis are binding, and have stuck with every family that has ever attended. Early morning work-outs, worship nights, silly activities, movie nights, field trips, and banquets are all attributes that make this program special. Any previous counselor can attest to the growth of the kids that attend from when they arrive a little sad, up until the last day when there are tears shed during our departure. Because Allegheny East Conference's (AEC) Camp Meeting has been cut down to a weekend for the past 3-4 years, Camp Davis has been the only time that kids from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and other areas of the U.S. come and fellowship together with one another for two whole weeks in the spirit of giving praise to God and spreading his love. Spreading the gospel to people of all ages, backgrounds, and religious status is the purpose of why human beings were placed on this earth to begin with. Camp Davis was a way to plant seeds not only in the kids, but in ourselves as well, aiding in the young adults that we are continually growing into today.
For years the youth of the Allegheny East Conference have not felt properly represented in these conversations, and feel as though–at the very least–knowing the cause of the cancellation of camp is critical to improving communication. If we can save Camp Danny Davis this year we are willing to put in the work and shoulder the responsibility necessary to see that it goes on for this year and many more to come. We have been told since childhood that the youth will lead, but if we are never given the opportunity to do so, how can we become proper leaders? If camp remains canceled, the damage will be irrevocable, similar to that of Covid-19, disconnecting several children/teenagers from a path they may be willing to take. The path to Jesus Christ, which is personally attuned to every soul that calls on His name.
If you have been a camper, counselor, member of the task force, or even a parent (or someone who has seen the benefits of Camp Davis), please sign this petition so our voices will be heard and Camp Davis has a chance to remain what it’s been for decades–an irreplaceable environment for the internal growth of the children of God. Thank you, and God bless!
“And my God shall supply all your needs, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
