A recent report from the Legislative Analyst’s Office has predicted an $18 billion budget deficit for California in the 2026-27 fiscal year, marking the fourth consecutive year under Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration. The deficit, which is attributed to federal spending cuts, economic uncertainty, unaccountable spending, and a taxpayer exodus, is forecasted to rise to $38 billion by 2027-28.

Unless significant nonpartisan action takes place immediately, we are on track towards a death spiral with ever increasing taxes that continue to drive more people and businesses away.

It’s time for transparency and accountability in the handling of taxpayer money including a thorough audit to ensure billions of funds since 2019 have been used appropriately. The public is more than critical since the administration refuses proper oversight of our money. 

This isn’t a red or blue political issue. We need sound financial management that delivers on the promise of whoever is in control of government.  We propose creating a specific proposition to be on the ballot of our next election.
