Hello,

Council was notified yesterday of the removal of heritage items and attended Bydown Street but the developer is still going in removing the heritage components from Bydown Terraces. Luckily they can't change the streetscape which is the most important thing about the terraces.

Last night, 29.10.25, Neutral Precinct wrote to the Mayor and asked her to convene an emergency meeting to grant an Interim Heritage Order. Even if was just for 30 days, it would not materially affect the developer as their DA has not yet been granted, but would stop the destruction of these heritage items till after the Heritage Assessment.

The developer is proving more agile and faster moving than Council, outsmarting Council at every move. We believe the IHO is the last chance.

If you have a moment, please write to Council and the Mayor now on council@northsydney.nsw.gov.au and mayor@northsydney.nsw.gov.au asking them to grant the Interim Heritage Order, even just till the assessment is finished. This won't harm the developer, except delay him for a few weeks in removing fireplaces, doors and windows but may end up saving these terraces. One line is all this email needs, it doesn't have to be long, just let Council know this is important to the community.

Thank you Friends of Bydown Terraces!
