Good Morning All

Thanks everyone, we are feeling well prepared to ask your Councillors to save the Bydown Terraces at Monday's Council meeting.

I have been asked what the proposed high rise block will look like? This is taken from their DA. You can see how it towers over the shops on the left, even over the 5 storey unit block on the right.  Olive Lane, the tiny lane on the right, is where they want 3 storeys of underground car park to exit.

To be fair, to get this perspective you would have to be standing at the back door of the single level terraces across the road. Up closer the top would be too high to see without bending your neck. Personally, I think it looks worse than the terraces.  Is that progress?

All areas of Sydney are under pressure due to the low and mid rise housing reforms. There are some areas of Neutral Bay which will inevitably end up with higher buildings. Our Council should be deciding where and when, not the NSW Government or a developer.

North Sydney Council has done a great job of protecting whole streets like Hayberry and Burlington in Crows Nest, is it too much to ask to protect this 50 metre stretch in Neutral Bay?  I believe this Council would want to be the Council which is remembered for permanently saving this piece of our heritage, but we will see....

Cheers

Glen
