BAD NEWS: Council Approved Romanin-Beachwood Development Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments

Wasaga Beach Council approved the Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments for the Romanin/Beachwood Development at Sept 24 Council Meeting by 7-0 vote.
Despite the facts that:
- Mayor, Deputy Mayor and all 5 Councilors all signed this Save Brocks Beach-Save Beachwood petition opposing this development (when they were campaigning for election) - Our petition has over 2,800 dignatures. How can they be trusted now?
-NVCA is still opposing this development due to Natural Heritage wetlands and Natural Hazards Flood Plain
- Draft Site Plan and NVCA permit can not be delivered as long as NVCA does not approves it
- This development ha been blocked for 5 years., why approving it now, at the last council meeting to get it "PASSED" prior to elections, this should have been a decision for future Council
- At the meeting they used as justification that the West Water Channel need to be built, but they don't need Romanin for that as the Town already signed an agreement in July 2025 transferring a part of Romanin lot to the Town to allow the West End Water Channel. In exchange Romanin did get a lot of benefits including the Town will allow and build and pay for a new road from Betty Blvd to Shore Lane, with water, wastewater and stormwater servicing. The agreement mentions that only on January 2030 the Town will have to pay fair market value for this land if development is not approved by then, so WHY RUSH to approve it now?
- West Water Channel work started months ago, all trees have already been cut from HW 26 to the lake, what is missing is NVCA and MTO approval, nothing from Romanin Development
- SO the West Water Channel reason was a false justification,
SO WHY NOW? One month prior to election?
ELECTION IS COMING! VOTE WISELY, VOTE FOR RESPONSIBLE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTS, VOTE TO PROTECT OUR NATURAL ASSETS FROM DEVELOPERS.
