Hello,

The relevant committee at Cheshire East Council are meeting tomorrow at Macclesfield Town Hall at 10am to discuss plans for the future of Bollington Library.

They are now proposing introducing a tier system for all CEC libraries, and have put Bollington in the lowest tier. This would mean the library would only be open and staffed 1.5 days a week, spread across three weekdays. They are proposing that the library is closed on Saturdays, therefore cutting access for everyone who works or studies during the week. The picture above is of Bollington library's free Saturday Lego club. This would be gone. Adult reading groups, gone. Children's Rhymetime, cut by 50%. Would our wonderful librarians want to stay with such a significant cut to their working hours? How will the council honour their dementia pledge? The people of Bollington are angry that our community hub continues to be under threat.

What you can do to help

If you can, please come to the meeting at Macclesfield Town Hall tomorrow, Thursday 18th July at 10am. Bring posters, signs, friends and family.

I have been given two minutes to speak at the meeting, as a member of the public. I will also deliver this petition to the council, with your comments. If you haven't already done so, please add your reasons for signing, and I will hand deliver them to the committee.

Thank you,

Julia
