Meeting with AT Brendon Main (Bus Services Manager) and Peter McCornish (Senior Account

I met with AT today, together with petition supporter Kelly Lynch (whose family has lived in Birkenhead since 1880). The AT representatives agreed that our concerns about branding/bus colour are valid, but I fear that BT's bus colours will be sacrificed for the 'greater good' of having a homogeneous Auckland brand. Apparently other parts of Auckland actually want more continuity, but then they don't have an outstanding iconic bus service like BT. AT's bottom line is that the changes will be great for some areas, while taking away from others (that includes us). But why aspire to mediocrity? I suggested co-branding as an option but that didn't get much traction. AT did say they will consider what we'd put in front of them... The good news is that the NZ Herald has picked up this story and will run it on Monday. Plus local MP Jonathan Coleman and councillor George Wood fully support us. So it's not over yet.
