Save Berkley — Say No Industrial Warehouses!
The Issue
We love our town and the lifestyle, environment, schools, and community we our grateful to have every day. Today that lifestyle is in immediate danger. Your Planning Board is currently reviewing a request for a Special Permit for a 24/7 330,000 square foot industrial warehouse project. A foreign investment company is planning to build this complex on spec with no know tenants. They are requesting 24/7 operation with plans for 300 potential employees and possibilities of more than 300 tractor trailers per day. Plans include more than 70 loading docks. Some of our elected and appointed officials don’t seem to understand the devastating impact this will have on our entire town. This short-sighted attempt at bringing additional tax revenue through an industrial development will not enhance our town or further the type of economic growth we need. Appropriate business development which will bring continued economic growth while preserving our lifestyle is what we should encourage. Approving this horrific project will also set a precedent leaving us open to more unwanted industrial development. Please sign the petition and let your voice be heard!
