Petition updateSave Bayfront Park - Stop Ultra and Rolling Loud!Commissioner Carollo Commits to Protecting Downtown Residents
Downtown Miami Residents
Mar 2, 2018
On Tuesday, Bayfront Park Board Members discussed the upcoming 2018 Ultra Music Festival and a possible contract renewal for future Ultra events. Commissioner Joe Carollo stated that any future Ultra contract must provide Bayfront Park with market value revenue and protect residents of adjacent communities from as much disruption as possible. Ms. Cristina Palomo, a BPMT Board Member and President of the Downtown Neighbors Alliance questioned Ultra representatives about their plans for the 2018 event. They committed to keeping the playground open until March 15, and closing Bayfront Park for 32 days - a shorter period than allowed by the contract. Since the Park's Board voted to enter into contract negotiations with Ultra, the DNA will continue to work with Commissioner Carollo and the Park's Board to ensure that any new contract reduces Ultra's impact on surrounding communities, shortens park closure periods and ensures the long-term financial viability of Bayfront Park. Finally, Miami Police will host a community meeting to discuss preparations for Ultra: Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:00am Police College Auditorium 350 NW 2nd Avenue
