The Issue

We, the concerned citizens of Mumbai and India, strongly oppose the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC)'s decision to allocate 24 acres of public land at Bandra Reclamation to Adani Realty for commercial development.

This plot:

Was reclaimed from the sea for the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a public infrastructure project.

Falls under the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), where commercial development is restricted or prohibited.

Currently houses an MSRDC casting yard and office structures – not vacant land for private exploitation.

Has an estimated value of ₹30,000 crore, and should serve the people, not profit private interests.

Activist Zoru Bhathena has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, stating that the land was meant for public use and its handover violates CRZ rules and environmental safeguards. We stand in full support of this legal challenge.

We demand that:

1. All development on this land be immediately halted until an independent review of CRZ status is completed.

2. A transparent public hearing be conducted before any policy decision regarding this land is finalized.

3. The land be used for public benefit — such as parks, open spaces, or public infrastructure — and not handed over to private developers.

Mumbai is losing its coast and its soul. This land belongs to the people. Let’s not allow another piece of our coastline to be taken away in silence.

Protect Mumbai’s environment

Preserve public land for public use

Demand transparency and justice in urban land deals
